A sledding we will go!

This Christmas season, we decided to start a new tradition-- an advent calendar. It has been something that H looks forward to every day.. we even had to make up a rule that if she asks about it, we won't do it because she asks about it every five minutes otherwise! :)

Every day, H opens up the small box and pulls out a slip of paper that has some sort of Christmas or winter activity on it. So far we have done things such as make a handprint wreath, read a Christmas story, make a pinecone bird feeder, visit Santa, watch a Christmas movie, read Luke 2, and make a paper chain. We still have a few fun ones left like make Christmas cookies and go snowmobiling at Grandpa and Grandmas! Most of these activities are either cheap or free, and focus on us spending time together as a family. (or a family minus one if baby J is in bed already!)

Today though, we went sledding! Baby J was bundled up and couldn't move-- hubs plopped him in the sled and we pulled him to the hill that is about 10 minutes from our house. The whole time Baby J was just laying in the sled taking in the chilliness and snowflakes that were falling on his little rosy cheeks.

I just think this picture is hilarious and sweet-- I love Hubs and H holding hands (something she thinks she is too big to do lately unless we are crossing the road), and I just crack up every time I see Baby J laying plopped down in that sled. Love that little guy!

Sledding was so much fun even though Mama only went down the hill once. Hubs took Baby J down a couple of times, and we even let H take Baby J down once. (While we were sweating at the top of the hill praying for no E.R. visit!) We love doing these fun activities, and the Advent tree is for sure something we will look forward to next Christmas season!
